Eclipse CD8455 not recognizing security CD

Looks like I'm going to have to ship off my CD8455 to Eclipse, since it doesn't recognize the security CD I programmed. I had to disconnect the battery to swap my steering wheel. How unlucky //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wallbash.gif.1310150c49dd52e0fbe1813a0681e5c3.gif

And this is exactly why I wouldn't own an Eclipse unit.. Can't they just have a removable faceplate like everyone else?? I'm sure they have no idea how many sales they miss out on because of it.. I don't even consider Eclipse decks because of this, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.. We won't sell them at the shop because of this either because nobody buys them.. Everybody wants a removable face.. The ESN doesn't work.. The thief is going to take his chances that it's not activated, and I think it's a much better detterent if the faceplate is missing.. At least then they know what their in for.. If I owned one, I would never activate the ESN because of exactly what happened to you, not to deter theives.. Sorry to hear it.. Get an Alpine next time.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

well at least eclipse made an attempt this year to provide a detachable faceplate in the cd7000. sucks to hear about this and well hopefully it works out. i still haven't activated my esn, i'm being a lil bit skeptical about it now.

couldnt you just call eclipse?very strange how it wont read the cd you sure the cd isnt very dirty etc.? ive never used the cd type security i use the memory stick number combo.

apparently none of you has ever lost a face plate hehe

besides a hu bolted to the frame isnt that easy to remove... well in my car it isnt

I've disconnected my battery like a hundered times on multiple Eclipse decks and I have never had that problem. Sorry to hear that it's acting up on you though. At least when someone ganks your deck with ESN activated it's worthless. Alpine on the other hand...... it would be interesting to find out the actual number of decks you have sold that have been stolen and which were Eclipse and which were Alpine.

is it the EXACT cd that you used, not another copy of it? if you cant get it, or if you locked it up, take it back to your dealer, or a dealer and show them your proof of purchase, and they will send it back to unlock it.

That's a good plan, although the idea behind a removable faceplate is deterrent, not prevention.. I bet the thieves would still make a mess of your car trying to gank your deck, even if they couldn't get it out.. A car with no faceplate makes them not want to break-in in the first place and move on to the next one.. A lot of thieves will take their chances on an Eclipse not being activated, and if it is, so what? They toss it without a care because they haven't lost anything, but you have.. Park our two cars side by side, mine with the faceplate removed (err, my D300 doesn't have a removable face, but my new D310 does, FTW), and yours with your Eclipse, and see which one they pick 99 times out of 100, even with the ESN security stickers on your windows.. They aren't the brightest bunch, and they go for the easy scores.. Like I said, them stealing an Eclipse and finding out later that the ESN has been activated still doesn't cost them anything..

Can't you just go to an Eclipse dealer? That's what I did when I purchased a car with triggered ESN. Took about 15 minutes to clear it up.
I bought it at an Eclipse dealer here in Atlanta. I'll give them a call tomorrow before calling Eclipse to see if they can help me out.

I am using the exact same CD to unlock it, but it's not doing the trick for some reason. I have used the same CD for the 4 Eclipse units I have owned so far.

thats what the two way alarm and the baseball bat are for.

most crooks know what they are stealing . if someone does break into your car to steal a eclipse deck is someone who doesnt know any better and would probably destroy your car even if the radio was mounted using a cage and could be removed with a din tools.ohh and fyi did you know eclipse covers theft on the warranty? either 6 months or a year . i forgot how long.

i would rather just deter thieves from the get go and not have them break in at all. chasing a thief down with a baseball bat is possibly going to get you shot these days. eclipse is getting cheap on their warrenties for 06. and 2 way alarms arent as effective as you would like to think.

They do NOT have to send it back. There is a simple phone call and maybe a fax, then they provide your dealer with the unlock code.

It was a piece of cake. I called Eclipse and they had all my information, since I sent the registration card when I bought the unit. They gave me a 6-digit code and the unit is now unlocked.
