Loose screw. When the wire is not tightened it gets really hot. If the amp still turns on, it means there is no internal short and still good. Just make sure the wire is tight.

Loose wiring connections will cause that/ Not secure. I would look into placing ferrules with some heat shrink as well. Bench test that amplifier before installing it in the vehicle to make sure its working properly.
