hi, i am planning to upgrade my sound system by getting components on the front doors, a subwoofer, amp and i want to know what do you recommend for the back... 3 or 4 way speakers???

any other recommendation for my upgrade???

thanks....

Do you have people that ride in the back with you often?

Rear speakers do noting but distract from your front stage, now if you have a need for rear speakers thats a different story, but for me i cannot justify spending more money on speakers and amplifiers for other people in my car

yeah dude, no rear fill unless you really want it. I didnt want it but my fiends *****ed so i got some cheap 6x9s and just fade it up front when the back is empty. But no rear fill is best.

This is an opinion rather than fact and it would behoove all that constantly post it as "ironclad fact" to discontinue doing so.

Whether or not rear fill is necessary is totally and completely up to the end user. Is it an unnecessary use of funds and install labor for you?

That's fine. Don't use it.

However - what's best for you (please note the continued emphasis on that single word) isn't always what's best for someone else.

When talking about coaxial speakers the audible difference between one with 3 separate drivers as compared to one with 4 is negligible at best and completely undetectable at worst. If you plan on using rear fill go with whatever fits both your install needs and budget the best.

Good luck getting where you want to be! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

A lot of people on here prefer not to run rear fill. If you must run it, A good set of 2ways will sound better than any 3 or 4 way.

And people advocating no rear fill is more than JUST opinion. Physics does come into play, and it will pull your soundstage back. However, whether or not you listen closely enough to notice or care is a different story.

As there is no mechanism for discerning the OP's listening preferences or ultimate system goals given the currently available information I'll have to politely disagree with you.

I'm no "newb" to aftermarket car audio by any means - my experience dates back to the days when having an auto-reverse cassette transport was the "it" thing at the time. I understand the logic and reasoning behind why someone would ditch rear speakers altogether excepting a substage (since it is typically located behind the listening position in most every vehicle in existence). I have heard/read the arguments time and time and time again. My listening preferences call for a different approach so it isn't a theory I subscribe to.

I prefer having rear fill. I prefer to have rear fill that is something more than just speakers thrown back there to produce audible noise ~ to the extent that I run components in the rear as well as the front.

Do I think that's the best course for everyone? Certainly not. Consequently I do not tell anyone that my way is the best way. It's my preference, it's my car, and it's my way of doing things.

Obviously there are people who still run rear fill of one sort or another as there are queries about the subject popping up at not infrequent intervals. What I tire of are the automatic responses of "Don't bother,", "Rear fill is a waste," or "You're better off not running rears at all."

When I see unqualified statements such as the one I emphasized from ENDER_XVICM's above post it immediately angers me. No explanation as to why that statement was made? The OP is supposed to simply accept that as a given and go on about his business? Not on my watch, friend.

And yes, it was then and remains nothing more than opinion. What's best for you is not necessarily what is best for everyone else. The bottom-line goal for you with your equipment may not be the same bottom-line goal as the next guy or gal in line.

I prefer rear fill. I like the way it sounds. I do not tell anyone ever that they should run rear fill. Certainly I do not tell anyone they should run amplified components for rear fill.

On the flipside of that same coin I do not believe it's called for to immediately advocate ditching rears completely to anyone and everyone that inquires about what they should run for rear fill (which unfortunately is generally what ends up happening more often than not)

thanks for the info guys...

i know components are prefferable over speakers, but my budget doesn't allow me to go with components all the way, so i was thinking about speakers for the back... i do have people riding in the back every now and then but my main concern is the audio for the driver... that's why i was thinking on putting components in the front and speakers in the back and fading the back a little...

when you say don't put anything in the back, do you mean to leave only the speakers grill there??? is there any improvement with the woofer sound or it isnt???

thanks....
