Does anyone know what would cause an amp to shut off only when you go the the next track on the head unit? It will work fine until you try to switch to the next song. If you unplug the remote wire and plug it back in its fine until you try to switch songs. Problem with the head unit or amp?

I havent had the amp in the car for about 10 months now, just the head unit. Im pretty sure I had it running from power to remote to turn it on and it still did the same. Im pretty sure something smoked in the head unit but it still plays fine without an amp hooked up.

Just a guess, but there might be a spike that occurs when you change tracks (either in power or in a loud signal) that's causing the amp to go into protect. Grab a DMM and a friend and have him change tracks while you measure the signal coming from the cables and see if you have a spike in any of them when you change tracks.

When you change tracks do you get a loud pop or anything?
