What can I do to keep my amp from overheating. It's brand new. It's an audiobahn A8000V mono 1 channel at 2 ohm stable. I have it wired to two AW120 T 500 rms each. It will play fine for about ten minutes, but then get super hot. It's got an air intake and a built-in cooling fan. The amp is running 4 ga from the battery to the distro block, and then 9 ga to the amp. Im using 16 ga speaker wire. What am I doing wrong that is causing this????

What is your gain set at? Some idiot @ Rayco tuned my setup for free and cranked my amp to 95% gain and my amp was overheating. I checked it out, turned the gain down, and doesn't overheat.

ditto on the gains.

But you could also buy a 12v fan and have it blow over the amp.

And if you want to be more creative, build a box for your amp, and have an in and an out fan.

ice? put it next to the beer in the corner. have yourself a few and drive around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well, I turned the gain down a little bit. It was about at 80%. I also turned the bass boost down to 6db. Give me some more suggestions on what you all do to keep your amps from overheating.......

I put thermal compound inside my amp (where it mounts to the heatsink) after I repaired it. Although it never seemed to get hot anyways. I think it has something to do with the fact that it is digital amp.
