Help!!

I have a problem with tripping the protection light on just about every amp I ever owned, but only when I try to bridge them. I need some help.I recently deceided to try a system again and was wondering if somebody could help me with advice. I picked up a box that has two 10" subs. I also have two amps. Locally, most people I've talked with say that when you bridge an amp it creates more power. What are the possibilites that I could run one amp "bridged" per sub. Would that be a good idea or am I going about this all wrong. And if youre wondering what amps they are, one is a fultron tida wave 140w and a kicker impulse 352xi. these things are so old I think babe ruth used them in his first car. Both amps have the bridged option by the speaker outputs. If you can help me I would appreciate it, and if you need more info to help me feel free to ask. Thanks
