help?

i finally got my first budget sq system going. it consists of, a pair of adire sf-7 6.5" mids, aura mr62 tweeters, lanzar optidrive optix-3b, and optie-15. i would like to know what freq i should x these over at in this active setup. i know nobody will know exactly, but there are a few out sq guys out there like ology and squeak who can give me a xover point to work off of as a baseline. i cant wait to get this going.

Try your mids down to 63hz or so, and cut them off @ around4500hz, and run your sub from 63 down. That's roughly how mine is set up (my mids play down to 50hz but not too many sound good down there, but in my car they work)Good luck, keep us posted. im really looking for the xover point between the mids and highs. any and all help is appreciated though. i should have been mroe specific.

Like I said, 4500hz or so, it depends on your tweets. My dls tweets play really well down to 4000 hz or so which is awesome for imaging male vocals, but not all tweets will be happy that low.

Got any info on those tweeters? T/S parameters? Respose graphs? Anything of that nature?

I haven't personally used them, so I have no idea how low they can play.

PS: "Claimed" response is meaningless. The XXX mids are "claimed" to extend out to 4khz or 5khz......yet I don't know too many people who actually enjoy their sound above 1khz.

Not to mention install is going to vary the response. A 6.5" woofer playing to 4khz-4.5khz is going to run into beaming........

i wish i had the ts of the tweeters. it would make life easier. the only reason i said 4k on the mids is, adires website said the sf7 will play cleanly to this #. how true that is.....well i dunno.

What about running some test tones/sweeps on each of the individual drivers to see where they start to break up at? It should be able to at least give you a general idea of what each component is going to need to be cut off at. Then you can do some fine tuning and EQ'ing.
