How do I get into the biz?

I'm graduating in a month with my BS in Electrical Engineering. I have sent my resume to almost every manufacturer in the business. Does anyone have any ideas about how to get a job in the industry as an engineer? I could be an installer, but I want to design the products, not install them. Any help would be great.

Just get a foot in the door however possible. If a company asks you to come on as anything other than a designer, go for it...and work your way up from there. Get a few years experience under your belt, be as innovative and creative as possible, and make your self stand out from the rest (in a good way). Show enthusiasm about what you want to do...ask the engineers if you can shadow them in your off time to gain further experience.

I just don't think that too many high end companies are gonna throw people right into the design aspect being fresh out of college with a BS degree. Most of these companies already have equivalently certified people, but those people have years and years of experience under their belts.

Good luck though, and congrats on the degree.

congrats on your BS!

yea just do some research, and see if there are any companies that are in your area. if so, try to geta good report (sp?) with them (that is if they are a grassroots company) talk electronics and stuff with them. thats idea of gettin your foot in the door.

nice i'm graduating next semester as a mechanical engineer.

Anyways maybe a co-op/internship can get your foot in the door. Or like someone else suggested earlier, just get any job with a company and then you can work your way up and then get the job that you want, a designer. My friend works at lockheed and his job as of right now has nothing to do with engineering (he's a mechanical engineer as well) but i'm sure as he works hard and the more time he works there i'm sure he'll get an engineering job there. hopefully me too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif .
