My friend has a 1990 F150. He just recently got an Aiwa CDC-X144. Yeah, I know, not the greatest HU's ever.

Anyways. We got wired in etc etc but once we turned the volume up to 16 or higher it shuts off and turns back on. From level 15 and under it works completely fine. 15 isn't even suitable for daily driving so this is a problem.

my guess is that the internal amp is going into protect mode, which means the amp is trying to draw more current than the wires allow to pass. Reground, and try that. if that doesn't work, run a new constant lead.

We used the factory ground. So Idnk where it is actually grounded.

you're suggestiong that the battery can't handle a simple head unit, but it can handle every other vehicle function? (assuming everyother vehicle function works)

i would defiinately still try regrounding elsewhere. Forget the factory ground temporarily. Like stated above, sounds like a protect mode...

my alpine did the same thing. it wasnt getting enough power. you need a new constant lead. its nto as hard as u think

Nope, its really not. Its pretty easy, you can grab a good constant off the ignition harness
