help with wiring my first amp.

hey guys this may sound like a stupid question but im finally installing my dd m4 and two batteries next weekend and am confused about something. i have a power wire running to both batteries in the back of my truck so yes the main battery is isolated from the system. when wiring the amp should I connect the ground wire from the amp to the battery then ground the battery or vice versa? also do i just need one ground for the batteries or should i ground both seperately. i just want to be safe and not take any chsnces with my equipment.
