Help with what subs to buy

Which subs should i get

Hx2's by rockford fosgate,

Audiobahn Ultra high excursion(or any other ones),

Alpine Type R's,

Infinity kappas,

MTX THunder8000,

or Polk MOMO's?

I am looking for a sub that will hit hard and be really loud but with relative tight punchy bass. For really good SPL and SQ. The size i am thinking of are 2 12's. Thanks.

I like the ultra high excursions. But those are the real spl subs from audiobahn. You might check out the alum series by them. Theyre pretty nice. Polk momos are very good quality woofers. Probably cheaper than the bahns too.

What kind of box are you looking at using? what kind of power ?

I like the HX2's myself. They won't give u the best SQ but they will give you plenty of SPL. The type Rs are the opposite. Good SQ but not a lot of SPL, same with infinity. So it all depends on which you like more.

i would choose the Momos out of all that is on the list my man. they are incredibly clean tight hitting subs that can handle 75-400rms and 1000max so i mean with 2 12"s of those you could get a 2 ohm stable mono amp that puts out around 1000watts and thump hard and extremly clean at the same time. it all depends on what is more important a TON of SPL with a tiny bit of SQ or a great mix of both.

Yep, they are nice. I just built a box for an E15a a couple of days ago. It pounded nice with 600 watts rms. I didn't get to play with it much before he took it home but it sounded really nice considering it wasn't broken in yet.

ben was real cool with me i would say he knows his stuff i would even go as far to say i would even recomend a few woofs. never heard a bad word about them unless "man those things bang" is bad lol

Naw, that ain't bad The A series are comparable to the DD 3500 series imo. Except the A's are less expensive, and all come with the carbon fiber dustcap. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have a ported bandpass box from Q logic and the JBL1200.1 amp. I just want a sub that is going to hit really hard and be loud but still have the comforting SQ to hear some of the music. Thanks

its very hard to get any woofer to sound good in that box. for bandpass in a "q1" type band pass box the woofer needs to be "low q" and there are not many 1200 watt low q woofers that will fit that box...now there are woofers that will get loud in it but hardly good sounding..i would drop the box

i totally agree with audiolife, i would even think that some kappa perfect's would sound bad in a bandpass, although that would be one interesting experiement, take like a 600watt amp and drop a kappa perfect in a bandpass see if it has good SQ anyone think it would??

So you guys are saying i should drop the box and get a sealed box. is the JBL1200.1 a good amp that will power two 12's. I am just wondering what sub will just have really good spl(I want it to hit hard.) and pretty good sq.
