I recently install the following in my 2006 dodge ram quad cab-
Pioneer AVIC-F90BT nav/headunit
Alpine SPR-17S 6-1/2" Component 2-Way speakers for front doors
Alpine SPR-17C 6 1/2 Coaxial 2-Way speakers for rear doors
above 4 door speakers running off of HIFONICS ZXI6408 RMS 4 ohms: 85 watts x 4 chan.
2 x Alpine Type R 10's swr-1042d under rear seat in custom fiberglass built box.
subs running off of HIFONICS BXi2008D at 1 ohm
I have all setting on the 2 amps as recommended in the Manual (basically all in the middle). I'm happy with my subs but I'M NOT happy with my door speakers! Unable to get any mid bass from them and the bass distort/clip when turned up no matter what settings I have the amp (full rage or HI cross or gain hi or low). I currently have the amp for the door speakers crossed hi Pass 100Hz. which is what the Manual recommend (link- same as the ZXI6410). They sounds just ok like the stock speakers, just no mid bass and the tweeters aren't real sharp, they kinda muffle when turned up loud. I have the Attenuation setting on the component tweeter crossover at 0db where they came in at. I tired moving it down all the way to -8db but really noticed no difference. I have the tweeter mounted in the stock location of my door panels just. I also have the doors dampened with several layers of FatMat Rattle Trap and sealed as much as I was able to.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I see all these good reviews on the Alpine SPR-17S Components but having hard time believing so far. I hoping I did or doing something wrong since I'm not the most techy stereo guy.
Your knowledge is greatly appreciated!
