Help with taking out stereo!!!

So my friend and I are trying to hook up my subs and amp to my car. But when we were trying to get out the stereo part, we took off the black surrounding plastic part. We took a knife and were just trying to pry out the stereo, but something is getting stuck and it isnt just sliding. Any tips??? Please let me know what i should do and if there is something blocking it etc!

theres a stereo removal tool you can get at almost any store ie: walmart, autozone, best buy etc. its two little metal keys that u slide in each side of the hu and they pull it out. bout 7.50 out tha door.

Unclip that piece of the dash.

you probably have to take off the whole dash piece around the radio and heat controls.

no my buddy has a 96 probe and it pulls right out the front without taking anything off. its prolly just stuck and u need those keys me and jco were talkin about although im not sure either of those would work for u let me look for a link.

yes that little black surround piece around it, we took off earlier. Just went home now to figure this out so i put it back on

probably something similar to the 2nd pic i posted is what you need. jam them shits on each side and jiggle/pull til it comes out.

Like i get the whole thing to move, but it moves out a little bit and then it stops as if there is something clipped in or locking it in or something. i tried to little butter knifes on the sides and it goes a little and then gets stuck

there is a clip that 'clips' to the side of the chassis. it's what keeps the unit from sliding out (obviously). the tool slides between the cage and the chassis of the unit to release the clip. you have to get it just right. it's a pain in the ass.
