Help with Speakers....

Ok, let me start off saying im completely new to this stuff. Recently I bought my self a nice car (1997 Ford Escort Sedan 4D) and intend within the next month on purchasing this http://cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-DEH-P9600MP-IN-DASH-CD-MP3-RECEIVER-DEHP9600_W0QQitemZ5842990790QQcategoryZ39752QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem, but i am having trouble figuring out which speakers i should get. Im trying to keep the total cost of speakers and possibly a subwoofer under 250$ or so. I really dont want the sub to be noticeable and if possible somewhere hidden. Trying to keep the stock look as much as possible because of the money involved in doing this... Any recommendations on a set of speakers and/mabe subwoofer that would be under that price. Thanks again...

go with the infinity kappa/refernce speakers. run you around 100-120 bux. as for a sub go with kicker cvr 10''. run you around 100-120. so i dunno how "hidden" you want your woofer. if need be go with 2 8'' RE re's.

Well, since you are on a limited budget, I would recommend a pair of Elemental Designs EU-700's for the sub stage, which you can check out here for only $50 and you can use the 15% off coupon if they still offer those. Yes, they are 6.5's, but many people are using those and becoming more and more impressed by them. They are affordable and will not let you down. The reason I suggest these is, you are not sure if you want a sub, which means you are probably in need of some bass (subwoofer), but the EU-700's can be used as a subwoofer or a midbass. Also, you want to stay stealthy with a stock look. These can fit in most doors or rear decks, only need 3.5" mounting clearance.

For the front stage, I'd probably go with a pair of Infinity Reference 6012si's from Crutchfield for only $79.99 after rebate.

Still, you need an amplifier if you don't have one to power your front stage and your sub stage. If so, I'd recommend a nice 450 watt 4 or 2 channel amplifier. Here is a suggestion on what to try.

Good deal on an amp. It's straight from Lanzar and it's covered under warranty.

So, the total comes to around ~$290.00.

While MyKul's suggestions are sound, I think I would go a different direction if it was me.

Good choice on your head unit, Dmize. Solid performer from what I understand.

With such a limited budget I would be looking for items that I wouldn't be wanting to upgrade terribly soon. While those EU-700s may be pretty capable for what they are once the 'bass bug' bites solid and catches some flesh they won't keep you satisfied long.

To mate with the proposed HU which is perfectly capable of running an entire system on its own I'd go this way:

Diamond Audio D6 6.5" coaxials for the front doors. With shipping you're looking at just shy of $172.

Now you need amplification for those Diamonds which will take 100w RMS.

Profile CA400 (refurbished) 100w X 2 channel amp for $49 [scroll about 1/4 of the way down the page for the amp and towards the bottom for specs]

That leaves $29 to get that Profile shipped (should cover it easily) and that'll give you a solid start on a nice, clean, amplified front stage. If rear fill is a must use the factory speakers (if present) for now and drive them with the head unit. Once you've saved a bit more then work on a substage.

I agree, definitely. You don't wanna rush into your install. Save up more dough and it will all be worth it in the end.

kk, thanks for the replys. ATM i dont currently have money for anything (stupid Xbox 360, and my "300$" car insurance) but within a month ill prob accumalte enough for everything.
