GM used some silly plastic boxes for the front speaker mounts in my Buick Park Ave:
The Morels were unhappy with that. After a couple of iterations of damping / deadening I was unable to make much improvement so I bit the bullet and moved the speakers to the outside of the doors -
Better, but still not good enough. So I changed the Morels out for HAT Imagines. Midbass is muddy, undefined, and midrange has some noticeable resonant points. Plastic doors. I'm now considering moving them back into the doors on wooden baffles.
The door cavity looks like this -
The open space on the left is where the speaker box was. It also served to mount an electronic door module and wiring.
My question is, how do I go about sealing the doors up properly, and would having the speakers inside the doors likely sound better than mounted to the plastic door panels?
Thanks
