Help with sound dampening door 2006 stratus

Hello I'm going to be sound dampening my doors in my stratus. the speakers sit on a plastic spacer that sits off the door about 1/2 inch, sound I put the sound dampening over the plastic to reinforce it? Or just around the plastic?

Put some weather stripping on both sides of the spacer. Wouldnt worry about putting deadener on it.

If you want, and the speaker comes off of the space, you can use the space as a template to make a new one out of MDF. Then you can coat the MDF to waterproof it and it wont rattle as much
