help with set up

im thinkin of getting a RE SX 12" of L7 15" and to throw it in a 3-4cu.ft 32-34hz box powered by a hifonics BXi1606d. what sub would be louder? i know the SX will have better SQ, but i love bass. it's goin in a ford ranger extended cab. just stock alternator and with the big 3 done. my truck battery is factory, but i have a yellow top i could put in back with the system, but is this even necessary because i doubt i will be listening to my system with my truck off? an advice or incite would be great

also going for durability, dont want my speaker to blow up when i try to show it off. been there and done that with audiobahn speakers. sadly have owned the two best speakers they make, the AWT series, and IMMORTAL (hence my screen name) both gone to CRAP!! loud tho

also, does the head unit's preamp voltage have much to do with a speakers performance??
