Not sure why so many people hate on the Type-Rs? They are great subwoofers. Must be because their name is Alpine. $200 is pretty good deal if they are good condition. I would offer $150 and aim to pay $175 tops. Your not going to find a pair of better subs for $175.
It would take a real ****** install on the Rs and a perfect install for those Pioneer's to even be in the same league as the Type-Rs. I hope you aware the Type-R has changed designs several times since it was introduced. This is not the same Type-R from 10-15 years ago.The alpine arnt bad but those pioneer 12s I posted should walk all over them. And only $75obo, I have owned both and I would choose the pioneer all day.
Wrong. Those subs were introduced in 2001 and have an rms of 500/1000 max. I would say either 2"-2.5" voicecoil. They're made for sealed enclosures. Fs: 15-2,000Hz
That's a horrible reffence... Subwoofer technology hasn't changed anywhere close to how cells phones/computers have.At price point, yes I agree you can probably get them at least $100 cheaper. But if he wants subs that aren't pushing 15 years old, will handle more power and get louder.... the extra $100 is well worth it.
VC size is not the deciding factor on a sub woofers performance. Especially with 15 year old technology. You are comparing a Nokia Brick to an iPhone 6.
