Help with placement of subs in box

Ok I have 2 JL 8w7s(got them SUPER cheap) that I am going to put in a box I have laying around. Basically I just wanna know if having both subs up, but one closer to the port, is going to hurt anything. I highly doubt it will, but I just wanna make sure. What I am talking about is Option 1 in this quick paint picture. the box is NOT deep enough to have the subs on the top of the box, one above the other(i hope that makes sense)

I don't see any problem with putting them on top. Unless ur vehicle is a hatch back or suv I don't think u would see any significant gain I.e. in a trunk car u usually get better spl via sub back. With sub up in a trunk car the only thing u really gain is a crap load of trunk rattle lol hope this helps!

Its an 08 Mazda 3 hatch, which is the ONLY reason I wanna do subs up. I have my 15 inch dc level 4 with level 5 coils sub up port back and it pounds. I just wanna mess with these little 8s for a while before I sell them lol
