Help with new system for Explorer

Hi all.

I am seeking help in designing a system to upgrade my factory JBL system.

After a bit of research here is what I am currently thinking:

Kenwood Excelon 679($300) since I want Sirius radio and the Kenwood Tuner can be had for free many places with the HU.

2 pair of MB QUART RKC 113 5.25" COAX SPEAKERs($70/pair on Ebay) for front and rear speakers.

JL Audio custom enclosure sub specifically for Ford Explorer. Just bought a used one on E-Bay. It's rated for 150W RMS @ 4 Ohms. I have been told that I want an amp with around 250W RMS @ 4 Ohms for this sub though as it is better too have more power than too little for this sub.

Amp. This is where it gets tough. Should I get a 5 channel amp like the

Phoenix Gold 9.0:5(50x4 & 150x1 @ 4 Ohms for $300) or

Kicker KX 700.5(40x4 & 200x1 @ 4 Ohms for $330) or

Hifonics ZX8000(50x4 & 200x1 @ 4 Ohms for $225) or

Or, should I separate the amps and get something like the

Hifonics BRUTUS BX1000D (250W x1 @ 4 Ohms $215) AND

HiFonics Zeus ZX6400 (85x4 @ 4 Ohms $200)

Thanks in advance for all your help!!!!

well I have 2 Ex's (well one is a mounty) but anyway, if your going to get CO-AX speakers, why are you going with 5 1/4"s, they are 5"/7" or 6"/8" holes, that way you would not need a mounting bracket or what ever, I am not a fan of MB quart speakers all that much, even though the make a great product, their highs are too harsh for me in most listening situations,

ok now on to the sub, do you have to get the custom enclosure for the rear cubby area? if you build a box or even bought a small pre fab for the trunk area, you will get so much more sound out of it and be much happier with the bass reproduction

hu:

I am personally not a fan of the Kenwood head units, but in this case it seems like your best option

ok amp:

if your worried about space the single 5 channel is the best option, plus your not going for something seriously loud here, but of the 5 you listed I would prefer the Kicker then the PG, the few extra dollars is worth it to me for an amplifer

I hope this helps some
