Help with my New Sub/Amp PLEASE!

Hello,

I recently got an Infinity 1600A Class D amplifier (rated at 600watts RMS @ 2ohm) and a Rockford Fosgate Stage 3 Punch 10" Sub (Rated at 400 watts RMS @ 2ohm), and I'm not getting them to work. I KNOW everything is wired correctly, as I had a professional run the wiring. The problem is the sub BARELY moves, and the amp doesnt even get warm to the touch. I have the gain set to almost 3/4 and the sub turned up all the way on my head unit (Jensen in Dash DVD Unit). Any ideas on what could be wrong? All the fuses look fine, and the amp is being fed 13.5V through an 8 gauge wire. Thanks for any and all help!

whats the voice coil configuration of the sub?

a) Even professionals make mistakes. Humans are humans.

b) Does the sub in question have Dual 2 Ohm voicecoils or Dual 4 Ohm voicecoils?

I'm curious if it's not a DVC 4 Ohm sub wired in series to an 8 Ohm load consequently only seeing about 100w out of your amp...

Its a DVC, 4ohm each, wired in parallel for a 2ohm load.

Another thing I had done was 4 new door speakers (infinity references), and they are also powered by a 475A 4 Channel Infinity Amp, and they work Great. Both amps have preamp inputs/outputs, so I tried running RCAs from the output on the 4 channel to the input of the Class D and it doesnt help at all. The sub BARELY moves, seriously. I can't even hear it from inside the car. I have to put my hand on the sub to even feel it, as the movement is just barely visible.

he might have wired it wrong like prowler said. they can make mistakes and wire it to 8 ohms or wire it on the wrong terminals.

I checked the wiring, its all correct . . . Any other ideas? Its just so weird that it doesn't even get warm . . .

a reason why your sub may not be performing as it should is that it may be out of phase.....switch around the negative and positive wires coming from your amp to that of your speaker's terminal and see how it works now
