Help With My First Set

Hello my name is Shaun, and i am looking to purchase my first upgrade.

First of all i am going to say i know almost nothing when it comes to car audio, and for that reason i am asking for help.

Requirements:

$300 Budget for amp and sub(s)

New from online

I want something that others can hear(if you know what i mean) But still sounds good to me.

Extra information:

I am only 17 so i really do not have a lot of money laying around, so i am looking for the best bang for my bucks.

I listen to rap 95% of the time and I use the car daily

My car is a 2001 Mercury Ls Premium Sedan and i am willing to use most of my trunk space.

O and one last thing it would be great if they came all ready installed in the box, because i really don't know or want to pay for this to be done.

Thank You For Your Help and Time

OK so i've be doing a lot of research and i looked at my trunk space, and i figure i can't fit a 15. So that leaves me with the options of two 10s or 12s or one really nice 10 or 12.

The ones i'm looking at are:

Alpine Type-R

Two kicker cvr(maybe crt or one kicker vx (maybe a L7)

JL W1v2 Series

Boston Acoustics G110-4 10

Diamond Audio TM310D2

Are there any others i should be looking at?

O and i decided that i would up the budget to $400, only if you guys think it would be worth it. But that would be total cost(amp, sub, wire and enclosure).

Nix the JLw1. That sub is not good for the money at all :/

Type R's are great for what you want. Great subs for rap considering the price

If you can weasel your way to get this: http://cgi.ebay.com/PAIR-ALPINE-12-AUDIO-3000-WATT-TYPE-R-2-OHM-SUB-WOOFER_W0QQitemZ220496164333QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCar_Subwoofers_Enclosures?hash=item33569875ed

go for it :]

I know single type R 12's are going for around $115 and honestly, you can pick up a 1000 watt Memphis amp for like $50 on craigslist...but maybe thats just around here

And definitely get

"Wiring Kit: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=KOL-AK4"

Thanks guys, that makes one less decision for me. I probably go with the type r (99% sure). I don't think i will be able afford the two of them so i will probably go with only one.

Man so many decisions, I'll keep an eye out for that amp on crag list, but right now the lowest i could find was 150.

One last question is there a place that makes enclosure for the type r because i have no idea how big or what kind of enclosure i need?

I will be back tomorrow for now i need to go to bed for school.

Thanks again for all the help

I recommend finding someone who has the appropriate tools, then buy a design off here from someone (I can recommend a few good designers if you'd like) and have them build it for you. I've probably designed (note: I no longer do car audio) at least 10, probably closer to 15 Type-R enclosures, and the most common design is usually 2.25 cubic feet tuned to 32hz. It's an outstanding daily setup, and while others might say to go a bit smaller (IIRC, tommyk90 likes around 2 cubes for daily), going a bit bigger will yield you a bit extra efficiency and make your port tuning job a bit easier. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, and welcome to the forum //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, and let me be the word of reason if I can be: you do NOT want other people to be hearing your stereo. I know, I went through high school years ago and I know what it's like to run out into the parking lot and start beating through the lanes and have people stare. Unfortunately, you'll soon realize that it's obnoxious to most other people, and it just invites theft. I cannot stand people who don't turn down their stereos at stoplights because people have their own music to listen to, and they don't really care about yours. Just a word of advice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
