a max of $1200

2) What size notebook would you prefer?

a. Ultraportable; 12" screen (no 8 or 9 inch screens)

not really. it's only what i read as far as reviews go. i was really eyeing the lenovo thinkpad x200 and this HP i saw at best buy a little while ago, but people are kinda dissin HP, so IDK

5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook?

web surfing, DL'ing music and movies, watchin a dvd occasionally, thats it!!

6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk?

yes, i'll be taking it different places

7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games?

no games

8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

at least 3.5 hours

9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person?

not at all

10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

from what i been reading windows XP > vista, so XP

it doesn't matter, but if i had to pick, i would pick either E or F

either one is fine. its whatever screen i can see off-axis best. right now i have an acer travelmate 4000 but i have to sit right in front of it to get a clear pic of the screen

i need at least 100GB

an optical drive would be nice cdrw/dvd-rom or a dvd burner. no blu-ray. but if the lappy doesn't come with an optical drive, maybe i can buy a usb powered one

I got a 13.3 screen, intel 2g processor, I think the 7100, 320 HD, 256m Nvidia video card, 4G ram, bluetooth and tons of other features for about $1100..... I spent about 2 weeks looking for something specific and this was the closest I could find. Only game I tried so far was AOEIII and it runs great on my laptop, when it doesn't run on my desktop

I've had my Dell for just about a year now and have no complaints. Check out Fatwallet.com and slickdeals.net, between Dell, HP, and Lenovo, they're always running some nice deals. I got $400 off $1200+ on my Dell, cost before coupon was about $1400, got it for $1000.

I have an Acer Aspire 7520-5311, amd turon 64 bit x2 tl58 , geforce 8400, 2 gig ram, 17" screen, 160 gig hd, dvd , wlan , hd out... the works basically, purchased christmas 07 , about 10-11 months ago for $1200 IIRC , still plays new games , just have to turn down the graphics.

edit::: i got it from newegg.com , check them out for good deals.
