i have a new kicker kx400.2, which is 100x2 and a kx600.1 which i am running 600x1@2ohms....both say to use 4 gauge wire, i was wondering if anything would happen if i used 8 gauge...what would be the difference b/w the 2? thanks for the input

Always go with what the instructions say. If you amps need 4 Ga. and you run 8 Ga. to them then they might be starving for power. If this happens, you amps might start to run hot and go into protection mode. Or stop working. Spend the extra $$. But there is really no need in running 4 Ga. wire if you electrical system can't handle the power demands of your amps. So make sure you have the power there then worry about getting the power to your amps.
