Help with hooking up an Alpine Sound Processor??

I have an Alpine deck (cda-9884) and an Alpine Signal Processor (cda-5755) I hooked up the SP to the deck but when using the volume on my deck when I turn it from level- 0 to level- 1 it cranks right up to one setting. Way too loud and can't turn it down at all. Only goes from nothing to loud as soon as I turn the volume up. I know it's connected right to the deck but was wondering if I missed something??? Any help would be appreciated thanks.
