Okay this is what i got alpine cd player 9821 pa1 e.q amps 601s rf and10001bd rf.Now the eq has a clipping light level indicator when i set the e.q with the light indicator for no cliping i have the gains on the eq set to the lowest i have to have the gain on the t10001bd amp at max for it not to getin the red clipping?light. But it sounds good so is it ok to go by the rf clipping lights or not to :uhoh:and i have the 601s amp set at 1/2 way and the highs sound good.So should i reset the gains and not use the clippin light thing?

If the lights you speak of are on the eq they will only indicate wheather the signal going to the amp is clean or not. You still need to set the gains on the amp properly.

i see what you're saying thats what i was thinking to but when i go by the lights on the eq my bass amp has to be at max gain?..I hate having more then 1 gain crap

Why does it have to be at max gain? Are you using a meter to set gains;or, do you mean they have to be at max to get as loud as you want it to?

How do your subs sound. If they sound good at your listening level it may be fine to run it at max gain. I have seen many amps that run fine on subs at .75-100% gain. You should be able to tell by ear if you are overdriving your system or not.

Not to point out the obvious but, doesn't the method that you linked to also instruct one to "turn up the HU til you hear distortion"? But, instead of listening for it on your audiophile speakers that you spent hundreds to thousands on, listen for it on a crap 10-20 dollar speaker. Working through the signal chain starting with all the gains at min is exaclty what the linked instructions do.
