Help with dorm room stereo

Alright so i am looking for a stereo system for my dorm room to play some music loud. I know this is a car audio forum but some people have to know more than me about home audio. I am looking for two tower type speakers and an amplifier/reciever for them. All the music will be played from a laptop connecting to the amp/reciever. I just need help finding something that will work for under $400 total. And wireless music transfer from a laptop would be a huge bonus. Any ideas.

How big is your room?

I just got some old paradigm 3se mkII speakers and a sansui au-5900 intergrated amp, off ebay, for a similar situation. Set me back less than 200 bucks.

As for the first year in the actual dorms, I made these instead using Aurasound NS3s with a Dayon 3/4" tweeter. Sounded sweeter than butter, but I gave them away to a friend.

they seem to be going for pretty good prices and look to be descent speakers. The size of the room is pretty small so nothing too serious is needed but i am into audio so overkill is in my nature.

Sony towers are straight garbage. Their bookshelf ones aren't bad, but their yellow coned towers sound so muted that you'll just fall asleep. Another question is how much power do i need for two tower speakers? Would 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms be enough to have some loud music?

There are a pair of point source bookshelves that best by carries from their insignia line that are uber cheap, supposedly with mods they decent.
