I just bought a DD9515 I am really excited to get it running I just have to build the box.

I was thinking something like the box plans on DD's web site but they are for the new model which is 1500 rms instead of mine which is 1200 rms.

DD reccomends 4.15 cuft with 64 sqin tuned to 37 what do you guys think?

I really appreciate any help.

Stick to DD's box plans. People here will tell you "tune to 32hz" etc. They don't know any better. They are the Dr. subwoofers of this forum and think there is a "best tuning". Anyways, DD knows their woofers and with the way the woofer is designed it will play very very well in the recommended enclosure.

Do you have any spec on the version you have? I can model it if you can get the t/s specs. I think DD said that they make all of their subs for the same tuning. I would say that would be a good starting point.

What music do you listen to? Anything really low?

I can get the t/s when i get home in a couple hours. And i forgot to add i will be using it for a daily setup at around 1500 watts maybe more. I drive a chevy cobalt, I listen to all kinds of music but i would like it be able to get down pretty low

4.5cubes net, 72^2 port area and 35hz tuning is what I'd do. I've built several like that with tuning from 35-38Hz...

problem will be fitting an enclosure that big into the trunk of a cobalt. I have a 15" Q in the wifes car in 3.25cubes and that takes up over 1/2 the trunk and was a TIGHT fit sliding it in through the rear seat opening.

Got the t/s specs for the DD 9515e series.

Fs: 32 Hz

QTS: 0.30

QES: 0.32

QMS: 5.25

VAS: 95L

Sensitivity: 93 dB

Might as well add all the info I have just in case someone else needs it

Woofer Diameter: 15" Voice Coil Diameter: 3" Voice Coil Type: DVC Magnet Weight: 300 oz Cone Type: Synthetic Fiber Blend Power Handling RMS: 1200 Power Handling Music: 2500 Suspension Travel: 75mm DC Resistance: 1.0, 1.5, 1.9, 3.6 ohms Mounting Depth: 8 3/8" Cut Out Diameter: 14" Speaker Weight: 47.2 lbs

DD's T/S specs are not all that accurate. I wish they were, but they just are not.

With that said, what are you goals?

When trying to figure out an enclosure you should consider what you want from the setup. Also, what will work best in your car.

Then start kicking numbers and sizes around until you can find a setup that works with in the limitations you have set.

My goals are to have a sub setup with good sql and be able to hit really low. I am sure it will be loud enough for me, I'm not doing comps just daily setup.

I thought since I wont have much airspace to work with in the trunk after the box i will have to face it forward with the seats down which is ok because no one rides in the back seat anyways, its a coupe.

I measured the trunk this is the total space I have to work with: 33" max width, 17" max height, and about 30'' depth.

BTW I have an AP30001D sitting around, use that or upgrade to something better quality?
