So. Thanks to this knowledgable forum, I have decided to **** it up, and spend another $140 bucks on a (hopefully) louder system than my proposed Kenwood system, which all of you shunned. Here are my new slew of questions. I'd like the reply's to be answer's to the questions, or something relevant, I just want to make sure I have everything right, I'm about to spend $500 on a system, I don't want ANYTHING to go wrong, yaa know??

Setup:

*1 Skar VVX15 15' Sub at 600 watts RMS - $160

*Custom ported box built by Skar Audio tuned at 33hz - $120

*Audiopipe Mini 1000 watt Amp - $108

*KnuKonceptz 4 Gauge Amp Wiring Kit - $35

1. I want my alternator to see more days. I have a stock 18 year old 80 amp 12v alternator in my car. My car is my life, I need it to go to college, I need it to go to work. My planned setup is doing 600 watts at 2 ohms, because I really don't think my alternator could handle doing 1000 watts RMS at 1 ohm. At 600 watts RMS, could my alternator live, and at 1000 watts RMS will my alternator live?

2. I've heard around that the amp I selected has an external fuse. Anybody with experience with this amp, could you tell me, if everything you need to amplify your sub, comes with this amp? Do I need ANYTHING else with this amp to make it work?

3. Will this 1 Skar 15' Sub be in dB, louder than the 2 $50 Kenwood 12's at 600 watts RMS total?

4. I have a 94 Accord Sedan. I hate Vibrations. I am thinking of sacraficing a couple dB in loudness and having the sub fire into the car, instead of firing into the trunk, how much noticible difference in loudness will there be? I will have my rear seats down when I do bump almost 100% of the time.

5. With question 4 in mind, would you think there could be a compromise having the sub being on 1 side of the car, firing to the other side of the car? Basically Put the sub on the extreme left in the middle of my trunk, and have it firing to the right side of the car? Compromise on Vibrations vs dB loudness?

6. Anything else I should know about this system //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

It should be fine, theoretically, you ahve a max amerage draw from your amp of 50a. But if you tune your amp right, you'll never see that unless you're competing, which you're obviously not. You should be fine, I'd just set your gains with a DMM and be conservative with the volume until you're more familiar with your system.

Are you talking about the 1000 watts RMS or 600 watts RMS? Would setting the gain really low be beneficial for my alternator?

If you set your amp to put out a max of 600w, your ballpark amerage draw would be around 50a

It would lessen the amperage draw. You probably can reach a happy medium without sacrificing your alternator or output. I would go ahead and get what you're planning on I'd maybe spend a few extra dollars and get something a little nicer than the AP Mini, I've heard alot of not-so-great things about them as far as rated power and clipping, ect.

would be nicer than the AP, imo, MBQ is a solid budget company

The reason I wanted to get the Audiopipe was because it can be wored down to 1 ohm at 1000 watts, and I do plan to wire down the Skar to 1000 watts RMS once i got a high output alternator, and I wouldn't need to get another amp, i could just stick with the mini 1k. Also, you said that you've heard some issues, could you link me to some documented problems with that amp? Anybody else have any word on this amp?

I think the mini is one of the better amps AP has. However, it is still over rated. If you buy the 1k and expect around 700-800 rms then your good to go and that would be just fine with this setup. All thought the AP could make 1k rms, it will be clipped/dirty and that is bad for you sub.

If you want to wire it to 2ohms, you will have to get dvc 4ohm sub... to wire it to 1ohm you will have to get dvc 2ohm sub... its either or, 4ohm dvc is 8ohm / 2ohm

2ohm dvc is 4ohm or 1ohm make sure you get what you want on that man... and also just cause you wire it at 1ohm you don't have to have the gains all the way up and still kick the wattage back and not use the full 1k

you still got your 12"s you had in the 4th order ? wouldn't mind picking up another used 12vvx 2ohm dvc

Well. Would you think that 600 watts the Skar would fullfill my dB thirst? I want around 115dB - 135dB, between the 2 numbers, 135dB i would assume is too loud, 115dB seems too low. Because if it does, I might just keep it wired at 2 ohms and be set for 4 years

Well, you just answered 2 questions. I'm going to get the dual 4 ohm sub, wire it down to 2 ohms at 600 watts RMS and be set

I would suggest a dual 2 ohm. That amp does not produce the power you think it does and you will be much happier with it. Just ensure you are not clipping the signal and you should be fine.

As for as the level of "loudness" you desire. Yes, that setup should perform with in those guidelines.

Dont listen to this ******. EVERYONE here has talked about how great the AP mini amps are, hes just one of those certain brand haters because he suffers from tiny **** syndrome.

Get the dual 2 VVX, and wire the AP mini at one ohm. If youre concerned with volt drop watch the gain. Anyone with a trained ear can set a gain properly.

If I get the dual 2 ohm and wire it down to 1 ohm, can I set the gain really low, as to not push more than 750 watts RMS? That is the absolute dead limit I want to push my whole system. Plus thats a good wattage that will provide a clean non clipped signal.
