Help with an install (03 sante fe)

Am I suppose to lose almost all bass when installing these things?

Can I just buy a 12" free-air sub and run it without an amp? I know if I blast it, it will make all the lights dim and what not, but is it possible for just filling in the low range?

no problem man. and you shouldn't. let me ask you something. so the factory adapter, which is most likely just a crossover, has 4 wires going from it to the stock speaker. How many wires lead into it, tho? Just 2? If so I would just cut off the crossover and wire your new speakers directly to the amp.

Four wires lead into it. You should be able to see the adapter in one of the pictures, it had the multiple colors leading from my door to an adapter on the speaker which ran one set of black/white to a big speaker and another to a little speaker.

When I connected my aftermarkets to the wire set (black/white) that lead to the big speaker, I got all bass and hardly any treble or mid.

The opposite happened when I connected the aftermarkets to the wire set that originally lead to the little speaker.

I can take more pictures if that would help. If I am just going to have to deal with it I will probably pick up the xt110P to make up for it.

do you have an aftermarket head unit? if so, I would just bypass the factory amp. If not, there's not much you can do. Mid's aren't going to compare to stock woofers in terms of bass....

No I have a stock head still. I just got to thinking, could I buy a full enclosure and just wire that up to the factory amp instead of worrying about getting a powered one?
