im a newbie in this whole car audio stuff, not lookin to get a crazy system, something that is decent, i'm got an Audiobahn ABP-12 800W dual 12" tuned bandpass system, i'm not sure which amp to get it with. I found a few amps that would fit my budget

.... SPL 2- channel 820 watt amp (Z2X-820)

Power acoustik 0v2820 - 820 watt 2 channel amp

crunch 2-channel 1000 watt P2N2250

i'm not sure how much power the amp needs to be to support the sub. any suggestions of any other amp would be appreciated. thanks a lot

the sub is 800W RMS.. whats the difference between RMS and peak?

budget.. if it's really worth it .. under $200..but if the difference is gonna be unoticeable to the average ear then under $150... all the amps that i listed were around $110

some one offered a rockford fosgate x5

mono amp that is 475 watts at 4 ohm s or 850at 2 ohms RMS

would that work well with the sub?

RMS is how much power the sub(s) can handle on a continuous basis. Peak is the ILS rating (If Lightening Strikes). Peak is the amount of power the subs can handle for split seconds just before they burst into flames (since we are talking about Audiobahn, no pun intended //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif ) In car audio, ONLY look at the RMS rating, it is the only thing that matters. This applies to both amplifiers and subs.

Now, by looking at audiobahn's webpage (this is honestly the first time I have ever been to their site) is looks like you what you have is rated 800w RMS at 4ohm stereo. So, I assume they mean each sub is 4ohm, and each sub can handle 400w RMS. So, it sounds like that amp offered to you would work (since you could wire the subs in parallel for a 2ohm load) as long as those are the RMS ratings and not the Peak ratings.

koo ...which would be a better buy

rockford fosgate x6

mono amp that is 475 watts at 4 ohm s or 850at 2 ohms RMS

or a soundstreem 600W rms mono
