help with amp

yes i have the us acoustics 2080 running on my infinity kappa components and every time i tun my volume up the amp shuts down, i checked and changed my ground and made sure my power wire was in good but it keeps coming on and off i checked my voltage and it reads abot 14.7 at the amp with the car on and the volume down and then when i turn the volume up it goes down to about 14.2 and then shuts off i dont know what else could be wrong any suggestions???

well that is weird. um do u have ring terminals on ur power and ground wire? i'd just use those for a secure power connection to make sure.

is ur ground really clean? i hate it when things like this happen. check ur battery terminal. might be corroded.

alright well i did have a ring terminal going to the ground, well at first i figured it was just a bad ground like the wire was loose where i had it on the seat bolt so then i ripped the wire out of the ring and then put it were my hifonics amp ground is and it still does it, on the batt i got a terminal i was gonna try and take the wire out of the terminal and cut the wire and restrip it but i couldnt find the right allen wrench but i know when i first hooked the amp up i had it connected good of at the batt, well it worked last week and then it just started coming on and off so i dont know what is wrong

i would expect u to know how to tune ur system right, so i woudnt thinnk that ur gain is up too high or ur using bass boost. But its possible theres something wrong with ur amp.

yea i know how to tune it, i had the gain at about 1/2 it works when the volume is low but then when i turn it up to where i usually listen to it at the amp shuts off and then comes back on and then as soon as it hits another beat it shuts off again, but at first i figured it was bad ground or just low voltage but now i dont know what it is

It sounds like your amp is going into safe mode. You might have a speaker wire pinched and grounding out. That happened to me and it would shut off at high volumes, fixed the problem and it never shuts off. I have to ask the obvious, are you running the impedance too low? I.E. 3 sets of speakers on a 2 channel amp. Check the impedance of the speakers at the amp. If none of that works, your amp may need looked at.

check to make sure your rca's arent bent... im a of roader and mine bent one time and would go into protect at higher volumes

turn the music up and wiggle themm around.

yea i gott it fig out, i went and bought sum new speaker wire to see if it was just the speaker wire i had going to my crossover, b/c i previously had not enough speaker wire to run to my crossover so i had to have little pieces and connected them and had electrical tape on it, so anyways i unhooked the wire goes from the crossover to the amp and hooked the amp up thru sum new speaker wire and hooked it up to sum spare speakers i had layin around and the amp worked fine so then i knew it was the speaker wire going to one of the crossovers and then i just tryed one of the crossovers at a time to find which side made my amp go off and then i ran new speaker wire on the side that made the amp shut off and now it works, so luckly it wasnt nothin major wrong and i was just bout to buy a new amp today im glad i tryed it again b4 i bought sumthin
