help with amp decisions

Hopefully someone here can give me a few pointers.

Let me start off by saying I have been into car audio for about 15 years now, but have been out of the loop for the past 5. My equipment, I'm sure is out dated but still holding up pretty well until my JL 300/4 has givin me some problems lately. The left front channel has been producing some popping noises and a loud hissing noise. Since its already been back to JL twice since I've owned it, I'm really looking for new amp and not hassle with it anymore. I feel its on its last leg.

I've been doing some research on 4 channel amps to run my JLXR650-CSi and JL XR525-CSi. I'm leaning towards the Alpine PDX 4.150 or a JL HD6004. I've never had a D class to run my mids and highs but always wanted to upgrade that part of my system. Or should I stick with the same amp and just get a 300/4v2?

Also any site recommendations would be nice too. eBay seems to have killer prices but even spending the discounted prices makes me a lil worried about buying from unauthorized dealer. My local store, where i used to buy all my equipment has went out of business, so I'm shopping the via internet.

Budget? I'm willing to fork out $800 for a JL HD. But I guess my question is, is it really worth it? I've owned my 300/4 for 7 years and paid around 550. I also would like to know what kind of differnece, if any, between a AB class amplifer and a D class amplifer, should I expect? And is the JL HD600 too much for my XR seperates? Peak handling power is 150 watts but I don't want to blow them.

And a SoundStream? Really? My entire system is all JL. I have a single 12W7 run by 500/1 and 300/4 running my 4 XR's. I'd really like to keep it all the same but the Alpine PDX's are very attractive amps and seem just as reliable.
