Help with alternator?

Hello, I'm doing the big three on my 94 Ford Explorer and am wondering what size fuse do I need to use between the alternator and battery? I am using 1/0awg wire, the alternator is 95amps (upgrading later). What really has got me stumped is do I get a fuse size to compliment the wire i.e. 250 or 300amp fuse. Or do I get something that compliments the alternator (95 amps) i.e. 100 or 120amp fuse?

You don't put the fuse between the alt and battery.you put it between the battery and amp.just run the wire from your alt directly to your battery!
False. When upgrading the wire between the alternator you want to fuse it. You fuse according to wire size, but the general rule of thumb is to fuse according to the amperage of the alternator, so in your case a 100 amp fuse should suffice.

Why would you fuse between the alt and battery? If that fuse blows you lose all charging to your battery but you don't stop the flow to the amps.If you fuse between the bat and amp and the fuse blows all power is killed from the power wire running through your car which is the point of putting the fuse under the hood as well as near the amp as well as to protect the amps.not to the main battery.

Your stock wiring is still in place //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

If you get into an accident and severe that wire, or a short of any kind, without a fuse you're asking for a fire.

when you upgrade big three you leave stock wiring inplace.so the wire running from the alt to the battery is not fused so it would defeat the purpose.IMO its a waste of money.if you isolate your system with the wiring i suggested prior you will not have any fires even if you are in an accident.and if you severe the wire even with a fuse if its before the point of the fuse then the wire is still live and can cause a fire that way as well.
