I didnt' know what to call this thing I'm planning on making so anyway, here we go. When i put in my cdt components, they were so deep that they hit the window when it was rolled down. So I had to use a mdf ring to make it all work, problem was that that pushed my door panel out and made it look really stupid. So now i'm buying some 1/2" particleboard and cutting it to the same shape as my factory speaker cover. Then i'm putting a ring of 1/4" plywood where the speaker will sit so it's flush mounted. I have some bondo that I will apply to give it a smoother look. Do I need anything special to make all this work out? Like sprays or anything? What do I need to do to make sure the bondo/body filler will adhere to the wood.....or will it adhere to it? And lastly, can I cover this in carpet or vinyl? I've never tried anything like this so I hope it comes out ok. Itd be helpful if someone could link me to a tutorial of this sort or something.
