help with a 15 inch box please!

i plan to buy a dd1515 from Louisiana_CRX and i need to build a box. he recommended around 4.5cubes with a port.

i was wondering what you guys thought of this: width-27, height-19, depth-19 for 4.51931 cubes and port: width-3, height-17.5, tuned at 40 hertz for a length of 13.586050991912433(rounded of course lol)... this is my first build so i am just wondering if i am anywhere remotely right lol. any suggestions are greatly appreciated

You need to account for displacement of the subwoofer itself, and then the port.

also you are going to want more port area, and you might want to consider tuning a bit lower.

You're going to want 3.5-4ft^3 after sub and port displacement, and a tuning around 35hz. Doing 4.5ft^3 and a 40hz tuning is going to give you a very peaky response. Good if you want to just be loud, but bad if you actually enjoy listening to music.

will it still be loud though? thats what im kind of shooting for but also want sound quality haha

It will be loud but not have the best SQ. You will get a better overall response with a lower tuning.

i went to ddaudio.com and found out that the occupied volume of the 1515 is .11 cubic feet...

Port is 38" long, tuned to 32hz it's 3.8 cubes w/o displacement probably close to 3.65 cubes after displacement.

how wide is the port? those look great.. i only have around 21 inches of depth.. would switching the depth and height dimensions change everything up?
