help with 99 civic sedan door

I need advice either for installing these speakers or just removing the door panel.

I bought 6.5" CDT speakers, I love them, everything said they would fit my car, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Here are a bunch of photos I took

I dremeled the crap out of the speaker pod, completely removed the back part of it, still no fit. Anyone have experience fitting 6.5" speakers in this **** car? Otherwise, does anyone know how to remove this door panel? Or at least just the bottom part that the speaker mount is in? There are no visible screws except for 3 i found after removing the speakers. Taking them out didn't help, i've tried pulling on the panel in every direction. I've been able to remove the lock/handle bit of the door and the corner thing. The armrest looks to be secured by 4 plastic snaps but prying them doesn't allow it to move at all and they appear very brittle.

If i could get the door panel off I could probably figure out how to get my speakers mounted. Any and all suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for anything

You could just drill new holes right now and mount the speaker.

The speaker doesn't fit all the way in, either i have to widen the metal hole or build something to mount them out further. I need to get the door panel off if i'm going to cut that wider and if im going to build something it would help a lot to be able to bring that inside to work on

Make and mdf bracket?

He cant, the grill is over the top of it and seperate from the door.

dude, I had the exact same problem. All I can say is to keep demeling. you have to make the whole socket wider. you also have to trim the grill a bit too. Not the clips but the actual stupid extra plastic on the inside.

yeah thats what i was getting to, the metal in the door looke like it might be wide enough i just need to kill the rest of the plastic shit. It's **** hard working on it though on the bottom of the door like that. Hard to see everything, not to mension its cold as hell out and snowing atm. That bottom section of the door panel looks like it detaches, if i could get that off and bring it inside to work on in the warm light and good view, it would be WAY easier.

I got the speaker in through a lot of plastic cutting with the dremel, fits in nicely, factory grill fits over with a little force:

That was fun huh! Wait till you try and fit some 8" speakers in there sometime. Took me like a month to figure that one out.

Finally put the mid in the hole and the 8 farther back iin a custom pod in the flat part of the door.
