Help with 2 IDMax V3's!

2 - 12inch IDMax V3 Dual 4 ohm

Power Acoustik 3000DB amp

I can't get the subs up loud without having to worry about the cone stressing... I have a power acoustik 3000 mono d amp powering them with 0 gauge. I am afraid to turn them up loud because when I do the cone looks like its wrinkling like crazy when it hits. I am also going to invest in a power acoustik 20farad cap which I will be adding to the system shortly with a new box purchase.

Could you guys give me some recommendations? I'm looking to get it loud but also have that balance of SQ. There crisp now just I can't turn them up to there near full potential!

Well those subs do not like much more than 1000 watts per sub depending on the enclosure. Do you know what that enclosure it tuned to and does your amp have a subsonic filter on it? I would go with a large ported enclosure tuned to about 28hz.

They're made to wrinkle at full excursion...but dont over do it, if its over doing it alot, Turn down the gain a bit

Not sure what the enclosure is tuned to all specs are on best buys page... My amp does have a subsonic filter on it.

When they wrinkle isn't that stressing the cone? I mean I can't even turn up the remote bass nob past half without them wrinkling right now its set to about 1/4..

yes, they r made to wrinkle, what is the gail set on the amp they peak on thoes subs is 1800 and ur tryin 2 give them 1500. thats acceptable but imo up over powering them a little bit. with that much power go buy sum type r's

that box is wayyy to small.

also, the surround is wrinkling. if the cone was wrinkling, you have problems.

get a bigger box

Should I stay sealed and go bigger or ported?

I would go with a 4 cube box that is tuned to around 28-32 hz. This will give you great output and still sound nice. It will be alot louder.

forget that cap though, invest is elsewhere in your electrical system, big 3, alternator or battery if you dont already have them.
