help with 1988 chevy silverado truck

I have a friend with a chevy 1500, 1988 model and it has the original radio, a delco. It is beyond help and he would like to replace it with something with a cd player but keeps getting flack about the size of the opening which is only 6"X3 1/2" and he is being told that nothing will fit... Anyone have any suggestions at all. He feels like he will never get a valid answer and it may be a lost cause. Forgive me for sounding like an idiot but this is something I am very ignorant about.

I'm pretty sure Metra makes an installation kit for 88-94 GM's like that...

Have you gone through Crutchfield yet? They have a pretty decent selection tool, if there's an installation kit for the vehicle they probably have it.

yea there is a kit, I think there is a pocket next to the little square radio? I beleive the kit uses that space and the radio space
