well you need a group of 16v batteries and a way to charge them via alt or a charger or a stepup to about 18v. make sure you ground the 16v bank to a chassis ground.

i've had the old kinetik bank and some HC16v batts. i want sustainable 18v.

OP, 18v alternators is the easy way. Get enough to cover your amperage draw at 18v.

Batts are either 6v series or 9v series and a lot of them.
