Ok, I want to run a Hifonics BXi 1606D to power one Fi 15" Bl which is Dual 1 Ohm, and I need to know a few things

1. What options/ upgrades should i get on the sub?

2. Would I need to upgrade any of the electric sytem? (battery, Big 3, Alternator)

3. What guage wire should I use for the install?

The car is a 2001 dodge stratus r/t used as a daily driver, but I also want some SPL too.

I'm still open to amp options if thats not enough power but im on a students budget.

Thanks for your help

Answers:

1. You should go ahead and get all the options. I had a 15" BL on ~1500~w and it got a bit warm, but thats okay. lol If anything, get the cooling, and flatwind.

2. You may need another battery in the rear of your vehicle, and maybe a big one up front. I DOUBT you will need a bigger alternator, as dodge alternators are normally pretty large, stock.

3. Get 1/0 gauge, anything about 800-1000~ watts needs 1/0 gauge.

Nice car too, i love that year R/T. Show us an install log when you get it done.

I didnt see that you said it was Dual 1 ohm.

Dual one ohm can ONLY be wired to 2 ohms or .5 ohms.

Therefore, you will need an amp that does that power at 2 ohms, maybe look for a used kicker zx/kx 1500.1 they do 1500~ at 2 ohms.

Hey get the d2 if you want to run it on 1 ohm. the d1 i believe you need to wire it down to .50? the d2 you can wire it to 1ohm or 4 ohms? I think. check with the more experience.
Correct.

If you havent ordered it yet, i would go ahead and get a dual 2 ohm, or for less strain, get an amp that does 1500 at 2 ohms.

Hey, thanks guys, and no i havent ordered it yet, but if i get the d2 i can wire it for 1 ohm and still get 1600 watts RMS from the Hifonics?? A little description of the difference between d1 and d2 would help, or a link.

Lol and thanks for the props on the R/T.

Dual 1 ohm would be a Dual voice coil subwoofer:

You can wire it either series, or parallel which is .5 ohm, or 2 ohm. Which is the reistance level.

Dual 2 ohm would be a Dual voice coil sub:

Can be wired either in 1 ohm, or 4 ohm.

Any of these wiring configs are going to be the ohm load presented to the amplifier. So, since the amp you like puts out 1500 at 1 ohm, you will need a dual 2 ohm woofer, to present a 1 ohm load to the amp.

Make sense?

Good looks like i've learnd something //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif so whats the high side of the d1? 2ohms? and i got a 15inch bl fully loaded d2 for sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif just what you need.

Yes, the high side of a dual 1 is 2 ohm.
