Help understanding tuning

How do I decide what to tune my custom box to? I get all the T/S stuff and have a decent handle on the box dimensions. But deciding on a tuning freq is a pain to maximize a sub's ability IMO. Help!

I have found the best way to tune appropriately is to experiment. Take the recommended tuning from the manufacturer and use it a baseline. This may result in several test boxes before you nail it, but when you do you'll be happier.

dont they still have computer programs for this? You can plug in different tuning frequencies or box dimensions until you get what you're looking for
