Maybe I'm just not putting the right combo of words in google but I cant find anything on this

lets say u have 2 12" dual 2ohm voice coil subs ratted @ 1000 watt RMS

wiring each parallel to obtain 1ohm then both subs in series for 2 ohms

does this mean I still only have 1000watts or is it now 2000watts?

thanks in advance

You have ZERO watts. Watts come from the amps. The wattage rating of the speaker is the max recommended power before thermal limit, not it's output.

If you connect it to an amp, then you will want 2000 watts at 2 ohms from the amp into the 2 ohm load for the subs, and each sub will get 1000 watts.

If each sub is rated 1000w rms total for both coils, then each sub handles 1000w with both coils driven, regardless of impedance. Your impedance configuration determines how many watts a particular amp puts out at that given impedance.

That I pretty much knew I just did not know if having 2 subs @ 1000 rms handling

would warrant a 1000 watt amp or a 2000watt amp

In other words didn't know if 2 subs stacked would double the wattage that I would need from the amp

in general, if a sub handles 1000w, a 1000w amp would be good. If you have 2 of those, then a 2000w amp would be good. giving a 1000w sub only 500w isn't bad, it just won't use it to full potential.

BTW, if you run the pair, you can not get one ohm. you can do .5, 2, and 8 i belive.

so find an amp that can do 2000 rms in that ohm range and let er rip.

edit. ignore the one ohm comment.
