ok so strictly in terms of how loud a sub will play it seems that displacement is the key. displacement being a factor of excursion (xmax) and cone area. right? so given to 12's sub A being a 500 watt w say a xmax of 15 and sub B being 100 watt w the same xmax is there no difference in loudness? now mind you im not speaking at all of sound quality. SQ i suppose would be based on a whole different set of variables. what are those parameters, and how do they factor in?
aside from SQ, it seems to me that i should really only be looking at xmax and cone area to determine how loud a sub will be and to hell w all the watts crap, right? (aside from amp selection)
and is "usable throw" the same as xmax?
