Hi all,
I recently burnt through my JL 12W0 12 ohm and replaced it with a Kicker C12 (4 ohm). I have a Directed 500 / 4 amp that I've been using for the last 3+ years, my components are all running off of 2 channels and my sub has always been bridged on the back producing 240 watts per the online manual.
With the C12 installed it seems like the amp is bottoming out, but I've had it bottom out before and it cut out my components as well as the sub before slowly coming back. In this case only the sub cuts out for a few seconds before coming back, I'm pushing it nowhere near as hard as I pushed the W0. What gives? I'm a noob... I know, I just want my music back!!!
I'm using a Pioneer Premier 860MP and the amp has 4 gauge wires for power and ground. The sub is in a relatively small box, probably 1x1x1. This was done as a budget system if you want to flame me! As long as it sounds good to me, right?
TIA everyone!
