Help Setting my amp

I have a JL 500/1 amp pushing 2 12" M3 subs in a ported box. I was just wondering if anyone could help me as far as setting the amp for SPL. I kno9w the subs hit better on a higher note and just would like to know what would probly be the best way to have the setting. Any help is appreciated, and I'm new to the site and just trying to get a feel for some things, and see who can help.
