Help select a 12" sub for this HT box please

I have looked around at some of the home theater offerings and think they are a little overpriced from what I can see. I have been leaning towards using some available pieces and plug my own sub in. Parts Express offers a kit you can just put together with a 12, amp, box, etc... for $470 but I don't know how good it plays: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=300-762

I don't know if a 10 would be better or if a 15 would be too boomy. People using the 15 kit seem to say it is.

I figure I can buy the pieces and plug my own sub in. Doing a 50% music 50% music mix and having it sound good would be hard to pick the correct sub without ever using it to do both. Looking for some ideas here given these specs:

2.0 cubic foot cabinet:

1000 watt amplifier that fits the cabinet: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=300-808

Specs say it is a Class G. I know nothing about that. Looks to be a decent unit.

Sub:

This is what they sell in the kit above also.

Any suggestions on a better 12" than the Dayton? Are they any good?

I would need something extremely accurate with great SQ in a sealed 2.0 enclosure that can handle the amp. Thanks!

Well you can't use the Dayton with that HPSA1000...so....you either have to get the HPSA500 and then use that Dayton or just get the plate amp and then find a sub somewhere else.

Adire, TC, JBL/Infinity, RE,....find a sub that way.

you should get a dual 2 ohm sub and wire it in series for that 1000 watt amp, that way it will at 4 ohms and the amp outs out 1kw at that impedence.

I really guess it comes down to how much you wanna spend on just the sub. Hell, personally id go cheap and buy an Alpine R dvc 2 and throw it in there.

RL-P? I've got 2 15's in BIG ported boxes and they're excellent for HT and decent on music. Lower HT tune isn't the best for music, but you're talking sealed, so no issues there.

Personally I'd do a 15" sealed as it won't be boomy in the right size enclosure and will give you more output if/when you need it.

I run 2 15's in my HT and know plenty of guys running 4-8 18's infinite baffle style. I had 4 15" Tempests in an IB for a while.

RL-P would be very nice for HT/music and should take all that amp has to offer. I only give mine 400 each and they're STUPID loud. Check the SS site for sealed box sizes for HT.
