Help rca converter in limited 2001 grand cherrokkee factory deck

so i hooked up the front postive and negative left and right speakers of the stock factory deck and when i plug the RCA cables in the amp and the protect light turns on and when the rca cables arent in the protect button dosnt not light up i need help
