I own a 2000 Dodge Dakota Club Cab r/t that HAD the premium infinity sound system in it. I recently had installed a 2005 model line Eclipse CD8455 which has two leads for steering wheel control hookup. One is brown and the other is brown with a black stripe. According to the instruction I am supposed to access the red black wire within the key housing, which I did cut it and put the white wire to the SWI-ECL main connector to that and cover the old lead. That has been done. I tapped the power for the unit off the assoc cig lighter which is only on when key is in on or assoc. power works and I am able to get it programmed to version 8 without any problems. (that is the correct version for the vehicle)
The question I have is what to do with the two wires that come out of the non connector side of the SWI-ECL. I have the following
1. a white wire coming off the 16 pin main wiring harness not 20 like the instructions say which is for the front left speaker.
2. The brown wire which according to the Eclipse Manuel is steering control 1
3. the brown wire with black stripe which is steering control 2
I have tried hooking the brown wire to the brown wire and the white wire to the brown and black wire however it only allows me to program one of the controls from the wheel this way and after the control is inputted the light goes out then never relights for the next control program, then shortly after flashes 3 times to note end of programing.
What do I do? Should I try switching the brown wire to the one with the black stripe or do I need to connect it to the white speaker wire? All the other wires are set as instructed in the instructions
Thanks for any help
