ok so i went out to set my gain propely in my car and ran into a problem. for starters i have a hdc312 being ran off a kicker zx1500.1 at 2 ohms, kicker 1/0 from batt to amp, 1/0 ground, and an exide orbital d34 batt. also next week im doing the big three. so i think that my electrical is not spectacular, but its enough to run my amp.

i wanted to throw about 1500 rms to my AQ so that is what i was going to set my amp to. according to the table on this page i was supposed to set my amp voltage at 54.77..

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=164826&highlight=set+comps

so i did everything right i used a 50 hz tone, disconnected speaker terminals, turned off my other speakers so i didnt have to listen to it, set everything to 0, hpf off, and started playing the track.

i also set all gains on the amp to 0.

i had my dmm plugged into the terminals and proceeded to try and set it at 54.77 but on max gain in was like 46.xx? wtf so that means im getting like 1100 rms? am i doing something totally wrong here or is my amp messed up.

btw i checked my ground and its good and my batt is idling in the 14s.

help please!

06 honda civic. and the wires for big three are coming early this week. from what i have read.. this will be enough to run the amp.

but thats not the point. i was not running the amp. i wasnt playing it? so why would it give me such a low voltage?

No load on the amp? IDK but I thought you had to have some type of load on the amp....

so how do i fix this problem then?

i noticed if i messed with the ssf or the bass boost:( it brings the voltage up. higher than what i need. but it said to keep those on 0.

what year zx1500 is it and make sure if its the 06 model to have ths ssf filter on and should be simple to set the gains however i dont think you have enough electrical to handle that power, your stock alt cant be more than 90 amps its recommend to run a battery in the back and a 140amp alt upfront read your manual on it man

im not sure what year it is.. a guy over at 8th civic with my same car is runnign about the same power as me with my same electrical and he is having no problems. but if it cant hanlde it i might through an extra batt in the back. but that shouldnt effect why the max was 46.xx volts. while i was tuning it in my voltage was steadily above 14 volts and had a solid ground. so it was getting enough power to set the gains? my question is why did it max out at only 46 volts. thats only around 1100 rms and everyone knows that kicker amps are normally underrated. i just need to know what i need to do to fix it. to get it to 54.77 where it needs to be.

yea thats true forgot about that when u are setting gains with no speakers hooked up your voltage doesnt go down, idk man its weird i had the same problem with a new 08 kicker zx1500 i had and it would do the same voltage i recall and i set it for the max it would do and if i went past the higest voltage i seen it then started going down so i set it for the max like 45 volts and hooked my subs up and boom it fried maybe you have a bad amp

and the 08 kickers light up in the middle where it says kicker the 06 models have the power light on the bottom left on the amp
